Denis Colleret - "Trains Go By"
Tastey country, folk and gospel music from a fine guitarist and singer.
If you like the music on “Prairie Home Companion,” you’ll love “Trains Go By.” A delectable history lesson of Gospel, blues and bluegrass, explored with a level of musicianship and scholarship that is suitable and rare. Denis Colleret’s guitar work fluctuates effortlessly from Gospel harp to country road-general store porch blues, to ethereal Celtic steel. John Lowrey may be the best harmonica player around, attacking with a precision that would make a classical flautist jealous. Matt Dudman’s mandolin and upright bass add several colors to this combo’s palate; sprinkles of banjo throughout leave no doubt that this was hatched in the U.S. of A. Review by J.P. Cativiela
